Aims of the Department
- Gain a deep chronological understanding of British History from the Romans to present day.
- Have the confidence to form strong arguments and make sustained judgements which demonstrate secured history knowledge.
- Be critical of information they are exposed to through their rigorous analysis of sources and interpretations.
- Develop their understanding of historical concepts including cause and consequence, change over time and significance.
- Want to explore, remember and question events that have shaped the world they live in.
- Demonstrate resilience and instil a work ethic through high levels of productivity which will prepare them for post 16 study or their chosen career.

At GCSE level, we offer the AQA syllabus. As part of this course, pupils will learn the following topics:
- Period Study - Germany, 1890-1945: Democracy and Dictatorship
- Wider World Depth Study - Conflict and Tension: The Inter-War Years, 1918-1939
- Thematic Study - Power and the People: c1170 to the present day
- British Depth Study including the historic environment - Elizabethan England: c1568-1603

Year 11
At GCSE level, we offer the AQA syllabus. As part of this course, pupils will learn the following topics:

Homework
KS3 (Years 7,8 and 9)
Homework is delivered in the form of quizzes, where pupils will be tested on what they have learned so far in history. For each topic, there will be approximately 3-4 quizzes. If pupils achieve an average of 50% or less over a topic, they will be recommended to attend Homework Club after school.
KS4 (Years 10 and 11)
Homework is delivered in a variety of methods, including quizzes, practice exam questions, revision time and worksheets.
