Bishop Barrington PE department are proud to unveil their new 4x 30m run up lanes and long jump pit with practice lanes. The funding for the pit came from Healthy Schools Capital Fund, a bid put in by Mr Rhodes, Durham County’s PE School Advisor.
Mr Bibby, Subject Leader of PE, who worked along side Jason to acquire the new facility said “Students will be able to practice the long jump using a full run up into a pit, something they have never been able to do before. This state of the art facility will help students prepare for athletic competitions, improve sprint technique, act as a multi training surface as well as an option for GCSE PE students for one of their practical choices. On behalf of Bishop Barrington School, I would like to extend my thanks to all those involved in the bid and making this become a reality.”
Mr Bibby, Jason Rhodes and selected students from the Y11 GCSE PE group officially opened the long jump pit last week.
