Bishop Barrington School has been rewarded for breaking down barriers to ensure children of all backgrounds get the best education. Our school has been named the best North-East secondary school, in the Pupil Premium Awards.
The awards, organised by the Department for Education and Times Education Supplement, recognise the innovative ways schools use Pupil Premium funding to close the gap between disadvantaged children and their classmates.
Jackie Gent, head teacher, said: “We are very proud to have received this accolade, which is in recognition of the drive, commitment and hard work of staff and pupils. Our school ensures that all pupils are at the heart of our drive to maximise progress and achievement. However, we are particularly pleased that this has had such an impact on pupils targeted for pupil premium funding".
