On Tuesday 18th June, Bishop Barrington, in conjunction with Sports Leaders and Asda, hosted the KS1 multi skills event, involving over 200 KS1 pupils from local Bishop Auckland Primary Schools. Twenty four Bishop Barrington Year 10 Sports Leaders delivered a wide range of sporting activities, including dance, tennis, golf, cricket, bench ball and football. The leaders planned and delivered the festival, as part of their Sports Leaders level 2 Award. The KS1 pupils sampled a range of activities with the aim at promoting sport and healthy active lifestyles.
The pupils also had the chance to work alongside two Asda Athletes, Sean Brown, a Newcastle falcons and England U18 Rugby player, and Samantha Kinghorn, a member of the Scottish Commonwealth Games Squad for wheelchair racing. KS1 pupils were also treated to an inspirational talk and demonstration from Samantha. The leaders led the event in a very impressive way and all pupils had a really enjoyable day.
