All pupils are expected to wear correct school uniform at all times.
Pupils attending this school benefit from its reputation and we expect pupils to help to maintain that reputation by their high standards of behaviour and appearance, both in school and in the local community. Parents whose children are allocated places here are expected to support the school policy on uniform.
At Bishop Barrington, our priority is on outstanding education for all of our pupils. It is unacceptable for teachers to have to use valuable teaching and learning time debating with pupils whether or not they are wearing correct school uniform. To avoid such situations, which disrupt effective learning and can damage working relationships, parents are expected to ensure that their children wear the correct school uniform.
What to wear
It is compulsory to wear a white shirt and tie, plain black tailored trousers, which do not include jean material or leggings, and/or tailored skirt (non stretch), plain black shoes (no trainers).
It is also compulsory for pupils to wear one of the following:
A school blazer
A school jumper
A school cardigan
A school tank top
FOOTWEAR: It has become apparent that students, during winter months, often find that their usual school shoes are not robust enough to cope with the constant cold and wet.
As a result, and with careful consideration, we are going to amend the policy regarding footwear and, if there is a breach of the uniform policy, students will be asked to change their footwear.
Students will now be permitted to wear plain black ankle boots. Please see below the guidelines surrounding this.
The boots must have no obvious logos
The boots must not have an obvious high heel (see reverse for picture clarity)
The boots must not be above the ankle
The boots must not be in the Ugg boot style

No jewellery, except a maximum of one plain stud (no sleepers) in each ear.
No other piercings of any kind are allowed.
Any make-up or hair colour/style must be discrete and appropriate to a place of work. Extreme fashion colours or styles are not acceptable.
Clear nail varnish and no false nail extensions.
Hats, caps and hoods are not to be worn inside the school buildings.
PE Kit - all of which can be ordered from school
The tie can only be bought from the school office.
As a thank you for the hard work and efforts of pupils, those who have 100% correct uniform in a week will be entered into their form classes weekly draw. If they win the weekly draw they receive an early lunch pass for themselves and a friend, along with a certificate.
Please see the link below for the protocol a form tutor follows for a pupil who does not have full school uniform. What we do ask is that parents or carers communicate with us using the pupils school planner to prevent pupils from being sanctioned.
