Technical Support
As the hub of the whole-school ICT network, the Technical Support office houses the core servers and equipment that stores data and controls network access.
The Network
The RM CC3 network consists primarily of:
- Windows 2000 Domain Controller (remote access, printers, core services, file store)
- Windows 2000 server (remote access, printers, anti-virus, file store)
- Windows 2000 Management Server (SIMS .net)
- Linux Email and web server
- Linux proxy and web filtering server
- Linux gateway, the 'MagicBox' provided by our RBC, DurhamNET
- NAS server for backup and multimedia storage
The Cisco network has a fiber optic backbone, with gigabit switches placed at strateigic locations around the school. Every classroom and office has at least two network ports, with several classrooms including six or even eight ports to accommodate more facilities for Teaching and Learning purposes, such as extra computers or printers.
A wide range of software applications is available to pupils and staff, and a 10Mbit always-on fiber optic Internet connection enables access to websites and other web-based resources.
