Welcome.

Our aim at Bishop Barrington is to provide all pupils in our care with a desire and clear path to achieve academic success.

We strive to reach our aim by creating a climate of high quality teaching, firm but fair discipline, below average class sizes and a caring pastoral system.

Key Stage 4/GCSE

Presently there are two measures for judging a school's success at KS4. One measure simply calculates the number of pupils achieving five or more GCSE/GNVQ grades, even though four passes may be in the same subject. Because of this, the Government has introduced an alternative measure, i.e. Five or more A* - C including English and Maths. This year, both measures are reported. However, next year the percentage of pupils attaining five A* - C with English and Maths is the only measure that will be reported.

We are pleased to report that although our figure for the first measure again rose in 2006 reaching fifty five percent, probably the more important rising trend is the five plus A* - C including English and Maths standard which rose to thirty seven percent. The fact that we are concentrating already on this measure of assessment, shows that yet again we, at Bishop Barrington, are ahead of the game.
