Spectacular Success Again

Tuesday 8 September 2009

Bishop Barrington School is celebrating another stunning set of results in 2009. 85% of GCSE students achieved 5+ A*-C grade passes. 62% of pupils each achieved at least 10 A*-C passes. 37% of pupils each attained at least 3A*/A passes among their results.

Acting Head Teacher, Jackie Gent said,

These results are particularly impressive since the cohort achieved well above their predicted attainment grades.

She praised the dedication of teachers and the hard work of students who embraced the school’s strategy of “Going for Gold.” This is an active strategy to lift attainment often well above standard predicted grades.

Particular students who excelled this year were:

  • Emma Gooch whose results included 13A* and 1 A grade passes.
  • Rebecca Ingledew who achieved 12A* and 2 A grades within her 15 A*-C passes.
  • Twins Briony and Gregory Coulthard, achieved 31 A*-C grades between them with Briony’s results including 11 A*/A grades.
  • Gregory, a keen sportsman, is also to be congratulated on his perfect attendance record. He has not missed a single day in his 5 years at Bishop Barrington.
