School Festival a big hit
Thursday 16 July 2009
The school was host to two hundred and fifty 4-7 year old pupils on Wednesday.
The school held a multi-skills sports festival for the youngsters from a number of feeder schools within the area. Pupils attended from Peases West, Woodhouse Close, St. Andrews, Escomb, Etherley Lane and Cockton Hill Primary schools, all in the Bishop Auckland area.
The reception to year two class pupils were able to develop a number of key sports skills through a range of activities. The activities included netball, rugby, bench Ball, key Movements, parachute activity, tri-golf, and athletics.
What made the event so special for Martin Broom, Head of Boys PE at Bishop Barrington and co-ordinator of the event was to see some of the school’s Year nine, ten and eleven pupils leading events.
“It was an enjoyable morning for all involved. Bishop Barrington young leaders were very professional and a credit to the school.”
Feedback from the Primary schools was very positive and staff are looking forward to more festivals in the future.
