Retiring Headteacher

Thursday 26 March 2009

Mr Guthrie will be retiring as head teacher of Bishop Barrington School at the end of this term. He became Headteacher of Bishop Barrington School in 2003 and was Deputy Headteacher in the school prior to appointment as Headteacher. In all, he has spent 35 years in Bishop Barrington School, joining just before it opened in 1973 as a Science teacher.

I have loved my years in Bishop Barrington and I am immensely proud of the progress made by the school. This can be attributed to an outstanding staff and the best pupils in the world. Because of this, I am certain that this will continue into the future.

Mr Guthrie intends to continue to pursue other interests in education during his retirement and is also looking forward to enjoying spending more time with his lively young grandsons!

Mrs Jackie Gent, the current Deputy, will be Acting Head Teacher from Easter.

Mr Guthrie wishes you and your family every happiness in the future.
