Royal Occasion

Friday 6 March 2009

Year 7 student, Brooklyn Simpson, enjoyed a right Royal occasion on Thursday, March 5.

Brooklyn was one of a number of youngsters presented to the Duke of Gloucester when he visited Auckland Youth and Community Centre, in Bishop Auckland.

The Duke, who is president of the National Association of Clubs for Young People, was on a tour of five of the region’s youth clubs to mark the 75th anniversary of the Durham Association of Clubs for Young People.

Brooklyn said: “He was very nice. We were presented to him and we showed him a display we had done about the club and activities.”

Brooklyn was also a guest at the buffet lunch attended by the duke, who also unveiled a commemorative plaque.

An active member of the club, Brooklyn enjoys playing football and pool and art activities.
