Monday 5 March 2007

We are among the most improved schools in the country in the Achievement and Attainment Tables, published on Thursday, March 1, by the Government.

The tables measure the performance of 14-year-olds in English, mathematics and science.

In his letter to Mr Guthrie, Mr Knight says:

Your results show that over the period 2003-2006 you are among the top performing schools, based on sustained improvement in the aggregate of pupils achieving Level 5+ in English, mathematics and science.
There is a lot to celebrate with these results as we know that young people who reach Level 5 at the end of Key Stage 3 are better prepared for their GCSEs, and have better life-chances, so pupils and teachers should be extremely proud of their performance.
Please pass on my thanks and congratulations to your pupils, staff and governors for their hard work and success, and I sent my best wishes for sustained improvement in the year ahead.

Mr Knight said he would also be sending a copy of the letter to local MP, Helen Goodman, and the local Director of Children’s Services.
