Mock Results
Wednesday 7 February 2007
Year 11 students were given a taste of what is in store when they will receive their real GCSE results in August. To make the ceremony as realistic as possible, the students were handed sealed envelopes, containing their mock results, by their mentors.
There followed the nervous opening of the envelopes. The results brought smiles of relief from students, who did well, and know they are on course to achieve excellent grades. All pupils said they valued the event and some were even more determined to raise their game.
This year, the school is running an Academic Olympics. All students have been given silver and gold targets for GCSE 2007, and the school’s mantra is, ‘Going for Gold’.
Special guest, Mr John Deller, who is co-ordinator of the Local Education Authority’s BETT (Beyond Expectations Transformation Team), addressed the students.
Deputy Head, Jackie Gent, said: “Mr Deller gave a very motivational presentation. The event was a very positive experience for our students, who are finding that their targets help them to aspire to new heights.”
