Scott Wilson

Thursday 10 June 2010

One year 8 Bishop Barrington student in Bishop Auckland, Scott Wilson, has shown that 4 wheels can really give him a flying start in his chosen sport - quad racing. He has a long string of victories under his belt including the NETT and British and Scottish under 14 championships. This has led him to be featured in several Quad magazines. 13 year old Scott only started riding when he was 11 and has rarely been beaten in the last 2 years.

Scott rides a YFM 250 Raptor 4 stroke bike and rides with race number six. He is sponsored by J and B Motorcycles, NGK spark plugs, UK Auto spares, Taktics- ATV, MXM as well as Custom Kitchen Designs. Go-Pro have installed a camera on the front of Scott’s quad so that he can be filmed and then placed on You Tube.

Scott maintained his winning touch on the 23rd of May when he entered the Scottish under 14 Quad championship at Rhynie near Aberdeen. He entered 3 races in one day and won all three. Unfortunately, Scott could not collect his trophy because the rain called the presentation off. However, it will be waiting for him on his next visit there.

Scott said, “I really get a buzz out of quad racing. It’s exciting at the start, but you have to use all of your skills to win.”

Mr Martin Broom, Head of Boys PE at Bishop Barrington said, “Scott has shown tremendous skill in winning these competitions. He is just as dedicated at school and he deserves all the praise for his achievements.”
